For Tate’s Frida: The Making of an Icon, we provided research and clearance for the exhibition’s promotional film, helping to source and secure the visual material needed to tell the extraordinary story of Frida Kahlo and her transformation from pioneering artist to global cultural icon.
Drawing on archival, artistic and cultural material spanning Kahlo’s life, work and enduring influence, our role involved identifying compelling imagery, tracing rights holders and managing permissions and clearances for use in the finished film.
The result supports a rich visual journey through Kahlo’s many identities and the extraordinary legacy that continues to inspire artists, audiences and popular culture around the world.
